MANU CULTURAL ZONE

 

Day 01: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST - PAITITI LODGE. - Leaving from Cusco very early in the morning in our comfortable bus. Ascending to the high mountain area of Paucartambo. On the way we visit the funeral towers or chullpas of Ninamarca. The bus then descents through the mysterious cloud forest full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. Stopping to give you an opportunity to witness Cock of the Rocks (Rupicola Peruvian) mating ritual. There are also possibilities to observe the Amazonian Umbrella bird (Cephalopteros Ornatus), Trogons (Trogon sp.) and many more. With luck the only South American bear, the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon we arrive to the village of Atalaya, where we take our boat 30 minutes by Alto Madre de Dios River to our typical lodge. Showers and toilets available.

 Day 02: PAITITI LODGE - MACHUHUASI LAKE.- Very early  in the morning . We take the boat for proximally 25 minutes to Machuhuasi lake where there are balsa rafts  to go a long the lake  for 2 hours. Where you can see other species of bird   like hoatzin, then we will walk one hours more inside the jungle. Nigh in Lodge. Showers and Toilet shared.

DAY  03 : PAITITI LODGE – PARROTS CLAY LICK – ATALAYA - CUSCO.- Very early  .We will  go by boat until  the Parrots clay to see three or four species of the small parrots after to see we will  come back for the  a delicious breakfast, now we have to come back by boat to  the port  Atalaya  then we will take the  bus to go back  to Cusco. Transfer to the hotel.

Showers and toilets  shared.

Day 03: PAITITI LODGE- PARROTS CLAY LICK – MACHUHUASI LAKE.- Very early  in the morning .  We take the boat for proximally 25 minutes   to the parrots lick , where we  can see the green parrots and also some birds or small animals .after to see parrots  we will come back to the lake Machuhuasi where there are balsa rafts  to go a long the lake  for 2 hours. Where you can see other species of bird   like hoatzin, then we will walk one hour more inside the jungle. Nigh in Lodge. Showers and Toilet shared.

 Day 03: LODGE – PARROTS CLAY LICK – MACHUHUASI LAKE.- Very early  in the morning .  we  take the boat for aproximaly 30 minutes   to the parrots lick . we can observe the small  green parrots ,some birds and small animals a walk explore  to the trails  and lake  we continue observe the  flora as orchids, bromelias and ferns specially , and fauna as  turtles, frogs, the brown capuchin monkey, besides the river we can observe to  white caimans, capybaras(hidroacheris). Nigh in Lodge. Showers and Toilet  shared .

 Day 04 : PAITITI LODGE – HOT SPRING WATER - PAITITI.-After the breakfast we take the boat  to go along the river alto alto Madre de Dios , where  will see many kind birds in the banks of the river ,we have to stop to visit Native Community Shintuya where we can walk around the community half hour  then we will go by boat and arrive to Aguas Calientes hot spring (curative waters) .to take the  shower for relaxs. In the afternoon we come back  to Paititi  Lodge. Night in lodge.

 Day 05: PAITITI LODGE – ATALAYA - CUSCO.- After a delicious breakfast   now we come back by boat  until  the port Atalaya   to take the  bus to go back  to Cusco . Transfer to the hotel.

 Day 06 : PAITITI LODGE – ATALAYA – CUSCO.- After a delicious breakfast   now we come back by boat  to  the port Atalaya   to take the  bus to go back  to Cusco . Transfer to the hotel.

Day 02: PAITITI LODGE – BLANQUILLO (MACAW CLAY LICK).- After an early and delicious breakfast, The rest of the day is spent traveling on the Alto Madre de Dios River. On the way you can see a variety of bird life, like herons, egrets, kingfishers, and the ever present vultures of which the most spectacular is the condor of the jungle, King Vulture (Sarcoramphus papa). In the afternoon a short stop at the village of Boca Manu to have refreshing cold beverage. Later on the group arrives to the campsite which is located very close to the famous Macaw Clay Lick. Walks in the afternoon and a night walk to spot caimans in the lake. Night camping on covered platforms. Showers and toilets available.

 

Day 03: BLANQUILLO (MACAW CLAY LICK) - CAMUNGO LAKE  AND TOWER -  The group visit very early in the morning  the big  Macaw clay lick in Blanquillo  . From a floating hide you can observe how dozen or even hundreds of parrots start to gather to eat the clay, which they need on their diet. After the parrots, the brilliant and colorful macaws start to arrive, squeaking loudly and illuminating trees with their bright colors. In the afternoon the group Walks to explore some of the many trails in  blanquillo  to see more species of monkeys and birds. After  we visit Camungo oxbow lake to observe Giant River Otters (Pteronura brasiliensis) and different varieties of birds. them we have the opportunity to climb a  tower. To  observe many  birds,. In the afternoon  we travel upriver , where we spend the night on  the beaches ,in our camping .

Day 04: BLANQUILLO BEACHES  - BOCA MANU.- After the breakfast .we go by boat until Boca Manu .  we explore some of the trails in Boca Manu and we have oportunity to visit  valley island   there we have option to find more species of monkeys and birds. Same  peoples take  the plane  from BOCA-MANU TO  CUSCO . .Approximately 45 minutes to Cusco Night in Lodge . Showers   and toilets available.

 

 Day 05 : BOCA MANU – PAITITI LODGE.- After the breakfast we come back on the river alto Madre de Dios   where you can observe more birds and plants  in the beaches . we visit  hot spring water, native community. Night in Lodge. Showers  and toilets available.

MANU WITH MACAW CLAY LICK

Day 03: BLANQUILLO (MACAW CLAY LICK) - BOCA MANU.- The group visit the Macaw clay lick . From a floating hide you can observe how dozen or even hundreds of parrots start to gather to eat the clay, which they need on their diet. After the parrots, the brilliant and colorful macaws start to arrive, squeaking loudly and illuminating trees with their bright colors. In the afternoon the group arrives to a lodge near Boca Manu. Walks to explore some of the many trails in the area. Night in Lodge. Showers and toilets available.

 

Day 04: BOCA MANU – OTORONGO LAKE.- The boat trip goes on and one will be able to understand why Manu is so famous for its wildlife. On the river edges you will be able to observe groups of turtles, White Caimans (Caiman cocodrylus), Capybaras (Hydrochaeris) and maybe a Jaguar (Panthera Onca) resting on a log and observing its territory. Arriving in the afternoon to our campsite in Otorongo. We will the only agency camping there. Later on visiting the trails around the Otorongo Oxbow Lake and the giant otter observation tower together with the guide to learn the functions and secrets of the tropical rainforest. Camping  Safary (with bed and mosquito net)  on covered platforms. Showers and toilets available.

 

 Day 05: OTORONGO LAKE – SALVADOR LAKE – OTORONGO LAKE.- Today the group visit another oxbow lake called Salvador, which is half an hour boat trip from Otorongo. Here paddling silently on a Catamaran, you have again possibilities to observe a family of giant otters fishing and playing, black caimans and many different rare bird life like the Hoatzins (Opisthocomus hoatzin). Here in Manu the animals have never suffered hunting pressure from man. In the afternoon we return to our campsite in Otorongo. Camping Safari (with bed and mosquito net) on covered platforms. Day 06: OTORONGO LAKE – BOCA MANU.- The call of the Red Howler monkeys (Alouatta seniculus) will wake us up. We unfortunately need to start our return. On Manu river, the group might see many different animals, they did not find on the way in. In the afternoon the group arrives to BOCA MANU  Lodgen. Lodge with showers and toilets available. Optional flight out.

 

Day 07: BOCA – MANU – PAITITI LODGE.- After the breakfast we come back on the river Manu where you can observe more birds and plants. A long the river alto Madre de Dios . Nigth in Lodge. Showers   and toilets available.

 

Day 08: PAITITI LODGE – CLOUD FOREST-CUSCO.- Take the boat from Paititi lodge to Atalaya where the bus is waiting for us, back to Cusco, visiting the cloud   forest again. Arrival in the afternoon. Proximally 6-7 pm.

Rules of conservation

Our passengers must comply with the following rules for the proper use, comfort and enjoyment of the trip to the Area Tourism and Recreational Use of Manu.

1.- Stay in the place indicated in the program and permiss.
2.- Visit only authorized areas
3.- Do not interfere in the activities of park rangers and researchers
4.- No contact with native people and respect their customs.
5.- Do not collects species of flora and fauna.
6.- Do not carry fire arms.
7.- Non-enter implements of hunting and fishing.
8.- Comply with the provisions of the Park headquarters and its staff of park rangers.
9.- Providing facilities for park rangers to the inspections carried out in the boat are carried.
10.- The Income Manu reserved zone is from Limonal checkpoints in the area from Otorongo camps, and
